The PS8409AQFN48GTR2-C0 is an HDMI™ repeater (or retimer) that eliminates jitter and fully supports HDMI 2.0 by supporting TMDS™ data rates up to 6.0 Gbps.The PS8409AQFN48GTR2-C0 device integrates a jitter-tolerant TMDS receiver and jitter-clearing TMDS transmitter for HDMI repeater applications. It eliminates data and clock jitter as well as timing offsets in the TMDS input to provide standards-compliant HDMI output with very low jitter.

The PS8409AQFN48GTR2-C0 is ideally suited for source, sink, and repeater device applications that need to eliminate TMDS clock and data jitter, as well as TMDS data offsets. The source device may need to eliminate Tx jitter and/or induced media (transmission path) jitter to meet HDMI output jitter requirements, especially at higher TMDS clock rates. It can also be used in an HDMI Repeater or Sink as a repeater near the input connector to increase the performance margin of the receiver. Signal integrity can be further optimised by using the PS8409AQFN48GTR2-C0 programmable input equalisation and output pre-emphasis controls.

The PS8409AQFN48GTR2-C0 can also be used as a dual-mode DisplayPort™ level shifter that can be mounted on a motherboard or graphics card, or within a Type 2 dual-mode DisplayPort (DP++) cable adapter. The PS8409AQFN48GTR2-C0 device includes the VESA® Dual-Mode DisplayPort Type 2 Cable Adapter DDC register and also includes an AUX to I2C bridge that allows the use of the DisplayPort AUX on the source input. The Type 2 register allows the GPU to use the standard Dual-Mode DisplayPort Type 2 Adapter driver to change device settings and recognition capabilities using the standard dual-mode DisplayPort Type 2 adapter driver.
